A List of 4-Chord Songs

4-chord song: A song in which the chord progression is as follows: maj. 1, maj. 5, min. 6, maj. 4, or min. 6, maj. 4, maj. 1, maj. 5, which is only different because it begins on the minor chord. Another variation is where the song has the same chords in the same order, but it begins on the maj. 4 chord.

There are plenty of other songs that contain the same 4 chords, but in different orders. I have listed a few of these as well.

So anyway, I have assembled from my measly collection of songs a list of ones that contain the same 4 chords in the same order:

  1. Blink
  2. Light Up the Sky
  3. Get Back Up
  4. The Call
  5. With Him
  6. Star of the County Down
  7. City on our Knees
  8. Healing Begins
  9. Our God is Greater
  10. Our God is an Awesome God
  11. On and On
  12. Stand in the Rain
  13. May it Be
  14. Psalm 145, 47, and 50
  15. Defying Gravity
  16. Up is Down

These songs are partner songs, which means that they can be sung together simultaneously.

Okay, so that's not even half of them! Here are some songs with the chord progression maj. 1, min. 6, maj. 4, maj. 5.

  1. Heart and Soul
  2. That's What Friends Are For
  3. Baby (Justin Bieber... Not that I listened to any more than the first 2 measures, Director!)

If you come up with some more, feel free to leave them in a comment!

  3. By the way, I didn't even realize that Up is Down was a 4 chord song until I listened closely. There's another Pirates of the Caribbean one that was too, but I can't remember what. It's on my (not really) complete list though.
